If you are just reading the wiki, we collect nothing about you. No cookies, no analytics, no tracking.
If you log in with Discord, we store your Discord ID, username, and avatar so the site knows who you are and what you are allowed to edit. If you are a wiki editor, your name is attached to your edits. If you are moderated or appeal a ban in our Discord, that is recorded too.
You can ask us to delete your data at any time. See Your choices.
We are the Town Wiki team. We run the official community wiki for the Roblox games Town, Town Debug, and SIPHON, with the endorsement of Hapless Studios and its owner. In this policy "we" and "us" means the wiki team, and "the site" means hapless.studio including the wiki.
We do not run the games. Town, Town Debug, and SIPHON are made and operated by Hapless Studios. We also do not run the main Hapless Studios Discord server. The only things we operate are this website and the Town Wiki Discord server.
That means this policy covers only what happens here. Anything you do inside the games on Roblox is governed by Roblox's privacy policy and by Hapless Studios. Anything you do on Discord, in either server, is also governed by Discord's privacy policy. If you want data removed from the games or from the main Hapless Discord, you need to ask them, not us, because we have no access to it.
Browsing hapless.studio or the wiki without logging in sets no cookies at all. There is no analytics service, no advertising, and no tracking pixel anywhere on the site, and nothing is stored on your device.
We count how many times each wiki page has been viewed. That is a single number per page. It is not linked to you, your device, or your IP address.
We also count how many different people visited on a given day, so we can tell whether the wiki is being used. This is done without identifying anyone, and it is worth being precise about how:
The result is a count of visits and of distinct daily visitors, and nothing else. We cannot single you out, build a profile, or work out which pages a particular person read.
Our hosting providers keep their own short-term server logs, which normally include IP addresses. That is standard for any website. See Who else handles your data.
Logging in is entirely optional. It exists so wiki editors and staff can be recognised. When you log in, Discord tells us:
We do not receive your email address, your password, your friend list, your messages, or your other servers. We ask Discord only for your basic identity and your roles in our server.
Once you are logged in we also record how many times you have logged in, when you first linked your account, when you last logged in, and roughly when you were last active on the site. The last one is what shows staff who is currently online.
The wiki keeps a history of changes, the same way any wiki does. Each entry records what changed, when, and which account made the change. This history is kept so mistakes can be undone and so contributions can be credited. Files you upload through the editor are stored on our server and shown on the wiki.
Our bot records moderation actions taken in the Town Wiki Discord server only: warnings, timeouts, kicks, and bans. Each record holds the account it applies to, the moderator who did it, the reason given, and the time. If you submit a ban appeal, the bot stores what you wrote in the appeal form along with the decision and its reason.
We hold nothing about bans in the games or in the main Hapless Studios Discord. Those are handled by other people and we cannot see, change, or delete them.
We use two cookies, and only after you choose to log in. Both are strictly necessary to keep you signed in, which is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing optional to consent to.

Both cookies are marked HttpOnly and Secure, which means they are sent only over HTTPS and cannot be read by scripts in your browser. We do not use cookies for analytics, advertising, or tracking you across other websites.
The site briefly holds IP addresses in memory to stop one person flooding the server with requests. These are held for at most a minute and are never written to our database.
If you are in the UK or EU, our lawful basis is legitimate interest in running a community wiki and keeping it safe, and performance of a service you asked for when you choose to log in.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers. We never will. A small number of companies process data on our behalf purely so the site can run:
These providers may hold short-term server logs including IP addresses, under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect someone's safety.

To make any of these requests, open a ticket in our wiki Discord server. We will deal with it within 30 days.
Two honest limits. Wiki edit history is the record of who wrote what, so we usually keep the fact that an edit happened even after removing your account, in the same way any wiki does. Moderation records for serious breaches are kept even if you ask for deletion, because deleting them would let someone erase a ban and rejoin. If either matters to you, raise it in your request and we will explain what we can and cannot remove.
If you are in the UK or EU and you are unhappy with how we have handled a request, you can complain to your national data protection authority.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Discord, and higher in some countries, so you must be at least 13 to log in here. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has logged in, tell us in the Discord and we will remove the account and its data.
You never need an account to read the wiki. Reading collects nothing.
The site is served over HTTPS only. Login sessions are cryptographically signed so they cannot be forged. Access to the members list, moderation tools, and the dashboard is limited by Discord role, and pages showing personal data are marked so they are not cached or indexed. No system is perfect, but we take it seriously and review it regularly.
If we change anything meaningful here we will update the date at the top and announce it in the Discord. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
